The Kaiju Cards RPG — Part 2
Welcome villagers, it’s been a while since we last talked.
While our team’s journey continues to unfold, we’d like to best prepare you for your trials yet to come. There will be many choices for you to make, and each one is as impactful as the other. What matters most is how you want to play and what you want your NFT to become.
Skill Trees
As your characters spend more time on Good Earth, they will discover many options to customize and specialize your NFTs. One of these ways is via our Skill Tree system. How you choose to progress your characters along these skill trees will dramatically affect your experience, and thus your ability to grow efficiently in game. Skill trees aren’t just limited to combat either. Should you choose the path of a burly tank, humble farmer, or experienced artisan will be up to you.
Professions
There will be 3 different profession branches. They will be Gathering, Refining, and Crafting. Within each professions are sub-classes, each with their own progressions and strategies. Your character will be able to progress in any profession or subclass at any time, and your character’s progress will always be saved in your NFT. Meaning, if you give your NFT to a friend, they would inherit all progress that character has made.
Gathering
Assemble your caravan and prepare for an adventure where you could enjoy activities like Mining in a volcano, Woodcutting in the perpetual forest, and Fishing in a small hole. Gathered materials will be very important to other industries and professions as gathering is a primary means for producing materials. While it may not seem like much, an honest living like this may have it’s bumps and surprises in the road.
Refining
Let’s say you’ve gathered some copper ore, wood logs, and a swordfish. You want to create a fish sword and a work bench. For the fish sword you’ll need to craft with copper bars and your swordfish. But where do you get copper bars?
This is where refining comes in. First, you’ll need to find a furnace to smelt your Copper Ore down to some Copper Bars. Based on your Refining ability, your smelting yields may vary! If you don’t have a furnace, maybe a friend will let you use theirs. Or maybe you can ask a guild? Now that you’ve got your copper bars lets put it all together.
Crafting
This is how you can create most tools and equippable NFTs. For the sake of this explanation you’ve already got the blueprint to create a Fish Sword. But you’ll need a workbench to put it all together. Luckily you gathered some wood earlier, which you could put together to form a new Workbench. Congrats.
At the workbench you can view your recipe requirements for a Fish Sword and see that you have all the materials, Copper Bars and a Swordfish. You hit the craft button and you begin to create yourself a shiny new Fish Sword NFT.
Guilds
We believe that gaming and crypto are at their best in an organized and cooperative environment. In this spirit, we will be strongly incentivizing guilds to form around the game.
Grants
We’ve decided to build a Guild Grant System to encourage community organization. Those who can demonstrate experience, leadership, and competence in the management and growth of communities, as well as a deep understanding of the developing Kaiju Cards ecosystem will be eligible. This deserves it’s own post in greater detail, soon.
Guild Dashboards and Management Tools
We want to encourage community organization as best we can, and to do so we will be providing organizers with the tools necessary to manage and streamline their operations while improving QoL for all participants. This is mainly a technical and UX endeavor.
